BOC:DFTR and Godzilla (TV Versions)

The S to N ratio seems to be improving. I think that's good...?!

Had my first opportunity to hear the TV versions of DFTR and
Godzilla from CC. I know that some like this album and others don't
(I'm somewhere in between) but I have to ask: Why do the voices
on Godzilla (tv version) sound like the chipmunks? Is that Alvin on
lead vocal? What is the history of this version of the song?  Help!
