You have two options here.

1) Unsubscribe now and re-subscribe later. This involves sending mail to
<listserv at listserv.spc.edu> with a message text of "unsub boc-l" and a later
resubscribe "sub boc-l <real name>"

2) Disable mail now and re-enable it later. Same sort of process, but with
different messages. These would be "set boc-l nomail" and "set boc-l mail"
afterwards. You're technically still subscribed in the meanwhile.
