P-Funk == Parliament/Funkadelic/Brides of Funkenstein/Bootsy's
Rubber Band/etc.etc.etc.
These are the guys that pioneered acid-driven space funk; they were
notorious as regular LSD users off- and particularly on-stage.
This seems to be "standard" equipment in Space Rock bands.
There was a mid-seventies tour where the stage prop was a large
flying saucer that the strangely dressed band emerged from.
Clinton seemed to regularly use space as a theme in his work (the
proceeding sentence is NOT a political comment! ;-)
Today, George Clinton is one of the most sampled men in the world.
Recognizing this, he has begun producing CDs containing nothing
except ideal "bites" of sound, specifically designed to be sampled.
The only restriction he places on use of these samples is that he
be sent a free tape copy of whatever music is produced using one of
this samples. Or so I read in a magazine a while back...
