Well fellow HW freaks, I'm back in the STates and reading the list.
I'm currently subscribed in digest form. Interestingly enough I feel
that I'm eavesdropping on the list this way rather than being an active
participant. But it does keep my mailbox from filling up with 100's
of mail messages.
Anyway, to get to the title of the message. I was in Munich at the
beginning of October and was lucky (serendipitous) enough to catch
ADII play live. A thoroughly great concert. The band were in fine
form playing a lot of new material (I presume it was as I didn't recognise
it) and some oldies & goldies, i.e. Wolf City, Archangel Thunderbird &
Surrounded by Stars. I spoke to Renate afterwards and she said that they
produced the album pretty much by themselves without using a major label
and also plan to be touring more this coming year. She said the Uk definitely
and if we're lucky possible the US also. Managed to pick up a cool poster of
the concert as well to hand beside my HW SotA '95 US tour poster. Interestingly
enough my girlfriend really liked ADII but was not at all impressed ny HW
when we saw them in Boulder last April. Unfortunately we missed seeing HW
in Brixton on the 21 Oct. as that was the day we flew out of Gatwick.
Thanks for all the good postings though.
I've also been following the thread of UK Currency. Very interesting. I vaguely
remember when farthings were in circulation (or is it inherited memory?)
and definitely ha'pennies. The first summer after decimalisation I was working
as a bus conductor on the North Wales coast (just finished school and before
going to college) and I remember how a lot of the older people who were
riding the busses were thoroughly confused with the "new" coins. They
were still missing the old ten-bob note. (Note: A bill in the US is a
note in the UK). Of course for us young 'uns the change over was pretty easy
at thye time and very logical although I do remember prices going up due
to round off. And to think the first HW album was only 29/11!!
I have an old Arithmetic book from my Grandfather circa the 1920's which
has a chapter on interest etc. It's so archaic now to see columns for
pounds, shillings & pence.

Makes you think what HW could be like if they had Chris Farlowe :-) BTW
he was slated to play in Munich this month.
