I have recently acquired the Pinkwind CD, and am seeking opinions on it.
I feel it is terribly recorded, managing to sound thin and muddy at the
same time, a poor example of Nik's asthmatic waterfowl Sax technique,
some poor guitaring from Trev Thoms (who I have a couple of Atom Gods LPs
by which are far better) and generally unedifying vocals.
The choice of tracks is pretty poor, with possibly the worst version of
silver machine ever, even beating the washing machine version from the
Traveller's Aid Trust LP, 2 spoken tracks that are of the time rather
than worth recording and some rather loose jamming that seems to lack
purpose or interest. The only track that has any interest for me is the
version of Master otU, which is hard to ruin with its epic rifforama,
which is not to say that it is good, but it still bears repeated listenings.
What do others think? Am I too harsh on this after only a few listens,
where do people garner their enjoyment from this CD?
