Hi all,

Well, I've given up on some of the tape people ever getting back to me,
so I've got only a quote from J&R Music world:

        Sony SR 90s (metal) 1.80 each x2 = $3.60
        Sony SR 100s (metal) 2.20 each x1 = $2.20
        TDK MA-X60s (metal) 2.30 each x1 = $2.30
                                               -----
                                               $8.10

and from Terrapin Tapes:

        Maxell XL2S 60 (chrome) 1.70 each x1 = $1.70
        Maxell XL2S 90 1.90 each x2 = $3.80
        Maxell XL2S 100 2.20 each x1 = $2.20
                                               -----
                                               $7.70
 -or-

        Maxell XL2 60 (chrome) 1.35 each x1 = $1.35
        Maxell XL2 90 1.45 each x2 = $2.90
        Maxell XL2 100 1.85 each x1 = $1.85
                                               -----
                                               $6.10

I talked with the guy at Terrapin a bit and he recommended the XL2Ss over
the metal tapes, since apparently minimum level metal tapes don't get as
nice a sound response as the XL2S (of which I was previosly unaware).
They'll also cover shipping for free, with 4 day UPS delivery.

If it sounds good to you all, I'll go with the XL2S's, for a total cost
of:

        tapes $6.10
postage/packing $4.00 (that me, by USPS 1st class)
covering contributors $1.50 (cost is for 7 sets: I forgot that
Dave would be doing some of these)
                                -----
                               $11.60

Reactions? (Beyond the "let's get this show on the road" variety ;-)

Allan.
