BOC: Boot licking

Am not sure what this bootlicking business is about, so maybe the poster
should clarify the point-- as well as the subject and object. If it was
indeed directed at John Swartz, anyone who's really participated for any
length of time in the discussion here-- as opposed to, say, tossing off the
occasional thoughtless quip,unsubstantiated statement or random flame-- knows
by now that he extends the same kind of courtesy to EVERYONE, tinker, lurker,
pundit and/or idiot alike. Most of us are not nearly as generous or as
tolerant-- whether it comes down to the arcana of collecting or coffee wars.
 But those are our failings. John's attempts to consider everyone's feelings
and to qualify his opinions in order not to step on anyone else's-- casual
list member or informed band member alike, person who's just shootin' the
breeze on the boss's internet account or someone whose life, work, sweat, and
blood have been devoted or sacrificed to some of the topics under
discussion-- sometimes verge on the obsequious (nothing I haven't told him to
his face) but hey, if he's a bootlicker, he's an equal opportunity
bootlicker.
