Dear all,

Firstly I have to say that I don't have the album that sparked off this
thread so I may be talking out of turn, but I think there are a few points
we may be missing here. Is it a fact that no royalties are being paid to
the Calvert estate? Just because his name does not appear next to the work
in question does not mean this is the case. Secondly, be careful of the use
of the word credit here. What the album is (presumably) is a collection of
unique recordings, the creation of which is credited to certain
individuals. Additionally, have we asked the question "what control did the
accused have over the credits that appear on the album"

It may be that the guys are a bunch of unprincipled money grabbers but I
think we need to make absolutely sure before we state that.

I have always considered that the members of the band showed a fairly high
level of integrity when one considers the industry in which they are
involved.

Okay, the credits for Future Reconstructions are correct on the disc.
However,
it doesen't change the the altered credits on the aptly titled 'Business
Trip'
(BTW, a great album either way). As for the reworked Quark, Strangeness &
Charm on there, the credits are correct no matter how much they reworked it
for this
album - so why alter the credits for 5 other songs?

Granted, Hawkwind are far from rich, but it's no excuse. I doubt Calvert's
widow
or Simon House for that matter are rolling in money either, and I'm sure
they
wouldn't mind royalties from these songs, no matter how little it is. It is
still wrong. I might have flipped my wig using some strong words here, but
I've known artists who have been ripped off or have artwork 'swiped' by
others
without them seeing any money or getting credit for it.
