Elric was called this in the books, too, though usually not to his face.
With Cymoril, Ykkroon threw her at him and Stormbringer twisted in
his hand and took her soul. It loved taking those he cared for the most.
As for Zarozinia, she had been horribly warped by the forces of chaos
at the time.
Elric is probably better described as an anti-hero. He was specifically
designed as an anti-Conan. Conan was huge, muscular, distrusted
and feared sorcery, and fought all his life to win a kingdom. Elric
was thin, weak, a superb sorcerer, and started with a powerful
empire that he basically threw away, then returned to burn to the ground.
