I see from the gig list that there are several London Roundhouse dates
in 1970 - 15 Feb, 12 April, 24 May, 13 Dec. Sort of spreads it around
a bit!
Pursuing this slightly further if I may. I know that some of the
Text of Festival album was made up from live tapes from Port Talbot
while other tracks were from John Peel sessions in 1970 and 1971
and somewhere there is a Brian Matthews session as well - the query
tho' is: did Hawkwind actually go into the BBC studios to record these
sessions specially for the radio shows or did the BBC simply use tapes
of live shows that already existed? Maybe a Roundhouse gig......?
I remember an excellent article in Record Collector a while back now
detailing all the BBC recording appearances of Led Zepplin and where the
material was derived from and I always wondered whether it would be
possible to compile something of the sort for Hawkwind.
Just curious
