I actually upgraded my CD a few weeks ago. Someone had given me a catalogue
from Richer Sounds, that had in the Cambridge Audio CD4 at, what I thought, was
a bloody good price (150 quid - reduced from 200+).

I went and had a listen to it (along with several more expensive models) and was
mightily impressed. As such, I took the plunge, with an assurance that if it did
not sound ok at home, I could bring it back and get a refund.

To cut a long story short, the difference was quite phenomenal. Compared to my
old player (a good machine at the time of purchase - 1989), there was no
contest. Even CD's that were pretty badly recorded sounded as good as well
recorded CD's as played on the old machine. The Hawkwind Remasters sound
incredible!

Obviously, the sound I get is dependent on the rest of my set up. However, I
have got no complaints at all, and would say that it's worth having a demo.

ps. Where's the new Hawkwind album? One of these days they'll release something
on time ;-)

pps. This month's VOX magazine has a good article on the Stonhenge festival with
a good piccy of Hawkwind circa 73-74
The remasters get reviewed as well.
