Well, it seems that you are not alone.  Reports of its screening at
Cannes included a big audience reaction to some grisly stuff, like
pictures of gaping wounds of crash victims flashed on the screen at one
point.  I don't think they liked it much. :-)

Apparently Ballard loves it, though.
