OFF: Jethro Tull

As what is probably considered to be a "casual" Tull fan (I have 6 albums), I do enjoy KW.
I can't fathom why there is such a need for fans to view prog rock, or any music, as serious.
It doesn't make it any less important, or "classic".  And serious is never the first word that
comes to mind when I think of Ian Anderson anyway.  Now cheezy, that's something else
all together.  I don't think KW falls into this category though.

I was lucky enough to see Tull on the RTB tour, and I can tell you that many of these songs
come off better in concert.  Martin cranks his guitar up a notch or something.  I agree about
the Middle Eastern influences, and Rare & Precious Chain is my favorite track on the album.
What bothers me about Tull today is Ian's voice.  I think he has Eric Bloom syndrome, or
vice-versa.  It's really a shame, but I believe his flute playing has improved as a result (more
time to practice?)

ObHawkwind: The opening band was ELP, who have an album on the prog-rock poll, while
we're trying to get a HW album on the poll.

No doubt he's probably tried it at home just to see if he could pull it off (no pun intended) at
a show.
