Summer Daze 97

Greetings people of the Hawk,

I talked to Jim Lascko last night and found out several thing about
Summer Daze 97. The grounds will open Sat. at sun rise so don't
plan to get there a day early. There will be a well stocked kitchen
in operation, don't go expecting various vendor stands serving your
favorite junk food. The one thing I got from our conversation is bring
plenty of your own supplies. I would think several large ice chests for
food and drink would be in order. If you drink bring several cases of
beer or whatever it, might not be for sale at the venue. If you smoke
then try to find me and turn me on. :-) This is considered a primitive
camp site so there is no electrical hookups for RVs, so its traditional
rather than electric teepees folks. Cooking and camp fires are OK.

As far as surprise guests go, Nik is the only ex-hawk that will be
there. Unless Del pays for his own plane ticket he won't be there.
Nik wanted to bring several ex-members but the budget can't fly in
everyone from all over the world.

US tour: the only sure thing (using HW standards of course) are the
gigs Jim's promoting, the festival (Aug. 30/31) and the show in Ohio
(Aug. 23). The "12 hour special" mentioned on www.hawkind.com is a
mistake. Other shows are possible, but a lack of a firm commitment on
when the band will arrive makes it very hard to line up venues. Other
possible gigs include CT and Chicago, with Milwaukee a very long shot.
If any additional shows happen it will be prior to the festival, Summer
Daze will be the last show for sure.

My opinion is don't miss the festival hoping to see HW closer to where
you live.

Also Jim asks if you plan to attend the festival send your payment in
as soon as possible. It makes his job easier.
