>Live,
they really come across as 3OC and the 2 other guys.
Theo, read MY whole post. I disagree that they come off that way. If
anything, they come off more as Buck, Eric, Danny and 2 other guys. And
if it weren't for some in-between banter by Eric, it looks like the
Buck/Danny show up there in terms of overall presentation live. Well, at
least to me. Sure, Danny doesn't get the mike for anything other than
some backup vocals, but he's the most animated guy on that stage. And,
which I failed to mention, I've watched Danny's bassplaying and he is NOT
simply copying Joe's riffs. He adds a slightly funky approach whereas
Joe's was a bit more "walking bass" approach - Danny also uses a "sharper",
more trebly tone as oppossed to Joe's more rounded tone (very characteristic
of a lot of bass sounds in the 60s and 70s). I'm not at all trying to
say that Danny is "better" than Joe Bouchard (who is one of my main
inspirations in playing bass), but he is different, and it adds some
"fresh air" to these songs that BOC has played for years.
