MM/plagiarism

_The Broken Sword_ is from 1954 - it's a loooooong time since I read it, but
it features a cursed sword of unnaturally dark hue...  I do remember it as a
very fine book indeed, but like I said...

I can't offhand trace the reference where MM mentioned it - it might even have
been in discussion at a signing or something - but I'm sure he has
acknowledged it.  I think it's a long way from borrowing a device to
out-and-out plagiarism, though - the tone of Anderson's book is that of Nordic
myth, not at all like that of the Elric stories.

Carl would probably like it! :)  But he's probably at the movies right now,
watching _Star Wars_ :))
