The recommendation debate rages on.....
>1. Buy *Imaginos* - for several reasons. .......4th, the album is out of
print now, and will probably be very hard to find in the future --
actually, it is
>very hard to come by now.
Imaginos will be hard to find, have never seen it in a used shop. Still
I would not start with Imaginos after WoTT. I still think your better
off going in order, even though a lot of the big three are contained on
WoTT, you need to listen to them in the order placed on the albums for a
real good feel.
>2A. At this point, you *might* want to opt for a live album - of course,.....
.....*Some Enchanted >Evening* is also very good, but for someone who
has WOTT, the main reason to get this would only be for the live
versions of "Astronomy" and maybe "R U Ready 2 Rock".
Again timing is everything and the first live album should be Feet
Knees. I 've made no secret of my love for this one and personally,
just personally it absolutely slays ETL which sounds rather drab even
with its better audio quality. Feet is the raw power of young rock and
roll lions with a sound no one could duplicate. Again I'm back into
doing them in order is the best bet. One comment the version of Reaper
on this one smokes, IMHO much better than ETL. The rest of SEE seemed
rather pointless to me, RU Ready 2 Rock in particular.
>3. At this point, *Cultosaurus...* is perhaps the best bet, and then any
>(or all) of the albums which featured "The Big 3" - BOC's hits "(Don't
>Fear) The Reaper" (on *Agents of Fortune*), "Godzilla" (on *Spectres*),
>and "Burnin' For You" (on *Fire of Unknown Origin*).
While no one would argue with CE as one of the best you should do AOF
and Specters before you reach this point. These two represent some
different directions for the band, in a way the last time they were
heading in a consistent direction. Great songs but very little
resemblance to the bands early sounds. When you listen to Mirrors and
then CE you see what I mean about going in a consistent direction.
>4. If you're still buyin BOC albums at this point, then *Mirrors*,
>*Revolution By Night*, and *Club Ninja* are next, and then you might
>wish to consider *Cult Classic* too.
Ninja and RBN take heat be it because of outside writers or lack of
consistent direction or whatever they still have fine songs on them.
Arrange these songs in different order or even place some standard
clunkers in strategic places on other albums and neither of them is bad
at all.
Once you've done all of these then you should be ready for Imaginos.
Good luck in finding any of them though, they have suddenly become very
scarce.
Just two more pieces of copper as I think this is a kewl thread after
things went BOC quiet for a while.
