Alces alces=elk (=European moose)
Alces alces gigas= moose (American moose)
Cervus "something" =elk (American elk)

and the bears
Ursus Arctus= European Bear (what we here in Sweden call "brun björn"
="brown bear"
Ursus arctos horriblis= Grizzly (same species as the European one... only
