Interesting - a US pilot that I knew in Belgium was mad for Taddy Porter
too; it's one of the better beers of its kind.
As for Bass, I grew up with the stuff, and can remember what it was like
before they took out the Burton Unions from the No.2 brewery (secondary
fermentation in wooden casks rather than stainless steel tanks). Sadly,
one of Britain's great historic beers is now a shadow of its former self!
At least Marston's still brew Burton beer properly.
