When a lead guitarist plays a solo, does the rest of the band stop playing?
Not usually. So why does the rest of the band stop during a drum solo?
If they were laying down a basic rhythm, and the drummer laying
cross-rhythms on top of that, you'd have a very different experience. An
on-topic example is Richard Chadwick during Space Is Their (Palestine).
