for the mac users out there:
to avoid the 2 sec gap, i use adaptec jam - it supports dao, 8x speed
etc...
oh, and you can do all those fun little things like crossfades,
normalizing, hidden tracks before and after the actual tracks, crowd
noise between tracks (during "pauses") without affecting the original
files.
