Wow, only Monday morning (UK time) and there's already been about 40 posts
already!
Great gig, but a bit patchy, disorganised and chaotic at times, but hey
this is Hawkwind and not a Lloyd Webber musical production!
Common guys give Ron a break, he can get a bit manic at times, but he's
really given Hawkwind some life and energy over the last few years.
Also I must say that Alan Davey was absolutely fantastic!! Really held it
together at the start. Call me an atheist, but I've never held the "Lemmy
is the bass god" belief. Give me Alan over Lemmy as a Hawkwind/Space metal
bassist anyday.(flameproof suit donned!)
Alan was really pumped up, and I agree that he probably went a bit over the
top trying to out play Lemmy(how close one wonders before Lemmy would have
smacked him one!). Don't get me wrong, it was good to see Lemmy there
though, he did seem rather reserved though.
In fact, I was pleased to see that everyone playing took the event to
heart, and didn't try to stamp their egos all over it.
Everyone playing seemed to be enjoying themselves, with Dave pulling his
hair out trying to organise everyone!
I agree that Huw was a bit off in places, but I still love the musical
empathy that Huw and Alan had during some of the tracks, Moonglum was
pretty good.
Also dare I say that I thought Steve Swindels was quite a revelation. He
really got into it, and I thought that with him on keyboards, and Havey/Tim
on synths there were some pretty cool sounds.
Ok,it's Monday, I'm at work and still "out there!" from Sat night/Sun morning.
Why don't we have a poll: Best/(or worst if you want) band member, best(or
worst song).
My votes are for Alan Davey/Sprit of the age
Andy
