HW: 80s and beyond (was Re: Croydon)

When I first listened to 'The 1999 Party' I was struck by how modern it
sounded despite being recorded in 1974. I've always separated all the
Hawkwind periods but recently I started to see how one period flows into
another and changes due to the influence of new musicians but always
retains the underlying Hawkwind sound. I put that down to Dave Brock being
the backbone of Hawkwind, it being his sound. I think that sound
corresponds to something in us and that's why we like it.
