Peter Hammill supporting Marillion in 81/82 was interesting. Many cries of "we're here to see you Peter" during his set (as indeed we were!). Last time I saw PH was about 10 years ago in King Tuts's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow - and tonight (Mathew) that's where I'll be for the Porcupine Tree gig.

Difficult to describe. Try downloading something off Napster - I'd recommend anything from 'Pawn Hearts' or 'H to He Who Am the Only One'.

Depends on whether you can stand Hammill's vocals. Bit Peter Gabriel-ish with a much higher range, while the music is heavily driven by Organ, Drums and Sax.

Actually I always thought early Marillion sounded more like VDGG than Genesis.

Hugely influential band they were too.

        VDGG?

        Virtual DemiGod Gents IMHO.

Hey! Remember that comp with Hawkwind/Van Der Graaf Generator/Amon
Düül? Does anyone have this? Seems like it could be worth a listen.
