Canterbury festival

[ANDREW GARIBALDI]

I have a very dear friend in the farming 'industry' - this is the message
she posted to me tonight ( I have deleted place names) and it sends chills
down my spine for the future of this country:

The situation here is horrid- I saw the smoke yeaterday from the burning
animals 10 miles south at M******...!  We are just hoping and would be
praying, if we did! (see last late night conversation)  What is more
worrying is major shut down of the rural economy and possible resulting
political decisions.  Animal vaccinations etc very great concerns about long
term future of agriculture because population find slaughter
unacceptable.....oooeeerrr????

Despite what our government says, this situation IS serious and COULD lead
to cancellations of everything outdoors if something isn't really done soon.
Only now they've gone and said 'yes' to local elections for totally
political reasons knowing that they have effectively quarrantined everyone
who is likely to be voting against them!!!! Scandalous or what........
