The hop plant is, I believe related to S. Sativa. This may explain the
"skunkiness" of some beers!

It has been suggested (though not by me) that grafting a hop stem onto
the root off of S. Sativa may produce hops with measurably different
effects on the human brain than the normal varieties of hop
unadulterated in this way. Hmmmmm.
