Hi Stephe,
Yeah, I was there about 4 weeks ago, and reported to this group on its
current name. Its 275 Portobello Road, London, Nearest tube Ladbroke Grove
(about quarter of a mile), or possibly Notting Hill Gate on the central line
(about a mile away). In the late 1970s the name changed from "Mountain
Grill" to "George's Fish Bar", and was called that until at least the early
1990s. But when I went back last month it's now called "George's Famous
Mountain Grill", or something very similar. But the front of the cafe still
looks the same as the photos in HOTMG.
Basically it's at one end of the 'world famous' Portobello Road, so as well
as taking shedloads of wedge for HW and related albums and CDs from the many
shops nearby (and there are quite a few), you can also pick that piece of
rare china you've always been after. And the fish and chips are still pretty
good too (always have been).
Cheers,
The Bring Back Dik Mik Appreciation Society
