I wasn't surprised that Motorhead was opening the shows.  Disappointed, yes, but not surprised.  Dio came close to the mountaintop in America years ago.  He definitely got closer to it than Motorhead ever did.

As for Dio's last swing thru the states, I believe it was last summer as the opener on the Deep Purple-Scorpions show.  I'd have to say you can't really give him credit for too many of those ticket sales.

And, for the record, on that Friday night in Pittsburgh, PA, I saw more Motorhead shirts than Dio shirts.  So there.
