Did Lemmy actually write any Hawkwind songs besides "The Watcher" and
"Motorhead"?  On the other hand, in combo with Simon King, his bass
playing gave a *major* boost to the band's existing material when he
joined, as well as the new stuff Dave and Nik (and Bob) were penning
when he was in.  IMO, listening to the recordings lo! these many years
later Dave played better when Lemmy was there (whether in inspiration or
competition ;)

Mind you, I think Dave plays better with Alan there, too.  Hawkwind
seems to work best when the bassist seems to have the mindset of a
guitarist and is well up front and in your face :)

Actually, *everything* in Hawkwind should be well up front and in one's
face.  (Except the Dreaded Sequencers! :)
