My wife is getting really tired of me saying, "In the '80s, I was listening to classic rock INSTEAD OF this". . . whenever one of those songs, or something similar, comes on the radio.
I guess my definition of classic rock is pretty much stuff from the mid-'60s through the '70s. But the definition gets fuzzy, because if a classic rock station wanted to play some Deep Purple or BOC from the '80s, that counts for me, too.
On the other hand, guys like Phil Collins, Steve Winwood and Don Henley totally DON'T count, because their '80s output was top 40 pop CRAP. But that's just my opinion.
So how DO we define classic rock? I'm curious what everybody else thinks.
