Moorcock novice

Read The Ice Schooner - the images from that still haunt me. Behold the
Man for another early book (but controversially religious). Read a Jerry
Cornelius - any. Cure for Cancer, The Final Programme and The English
Assasain are all still on my bookshelves. There are many alter-ego
variants of Jerry Cornelius - Jherek Carnelian is one (if memory serves) and
that basic character seems to haunt all Moorcock's books while other
metamorphosed characters keep emerging in transmuted forms in other series.
Warlord of the Air transposes Victorian and recent histories and there may
be other, more recent, series that do this as well - all of them embracing a
Fin de Siecle (End of an Age) atmosphere. I've almost entirely avoided
any sword and sourcery books and though I did read the last Elric 'Revenge
of the Rose' (dare I say this?) I found it strangely boring. Brothel
In Rosenstrasse has plenty of the erotic (as you might expect from the
title) combined with "stream of consciousness" writing style and I can't
remember the book (either Rituals of Infinity or Entropy Tango) that has The
Mountain Grill with various Hawkwind Band members sitting at all the
different tables but the band also gets a brief mention in one of the Jerry
Cornelius books.

But I'm sure other people will offer you a completely different selection!
De gustibus ....and all that.
