Hi everyone! Just got home from the fest.Missed Harvey (gutted) but we had
to leave. First, Tim played a solo spot and was on great form musically. He
played a lot of tide of the century and mentioned he's very ill. He didn't
go into what's Up but the show brought tears to my eyes. Richard Chadwick
was watching at the front barrier. Great to see that. Dunno if Dave or Alan
saw it.
Hawkwind? Well. another peak I thought! They started with Ejection - S of
the east...then the memory failed me. I just followed my wife Andrea to the
front barrier. Oh Yeah! Uncle Sam's on Mars Blew the sky away! PSI Power? I
nearly wet my pants! Not many slow numbers...Out here we are-Love in space-7
by 7.Brainstorm with Upside Down (very pogoish!) in the midst and Paradox.
Lord of Light was a joy to behold! Alan thrasing bass! Dave was very
animated...Spirit of the age set the place on fire!! Dave looked so content
and into it! The gig went very quick, the curfew was at 11pm sharp. I was
compleatly
draind. Like I'd been, I dunno...through a porthole and flung back to
reality witha crash! The crowd was baying for more....Andrea was...I've
never seen her go so mental !!
Me? I was totally blown away (again). During the sat afternoon I'm sure I
saw the infamous Pete Docherty Slipping backstage. Must have gone to learn
from the masters!!!!!!! I hope they filmed it! Love to see what you all
thought! Alan. Oh yeah...the security were the toughest (putting it very
mildly) bunch of nasties I've encountered in a good whike!! Very luckily, I
read the small A4 sized notice Oon the caravan athte gate to the Arena. Many
others didnt. I saw one guy have his 12g pack of bacci gone through. They
found his stash. I was searched VERY THOUROUGHLY each time. I said to one
guy that i thought it was too excessive....he said,"they hired us 'cos we're
the best!Hmmmmm! Roll on Hawkfest!
