Dave Brock / Robert Calvert Project
For many years there was rumoured to be one, final collaboration
between Robert Calvert and Dave Brock. At long last in 2007, it can
be revealed that there is indeed a new album from these two musical
heroes from the last great age of Space Rock Music.
Dave Brock explains how the project came about:
"I had a cassette tape of Bob's poems for many years, of which I
passed on to Trevor Hughes, who gave it to Jill Calvert, who gave it
to Rob Ayling, who gave it back to me and asked me to put some music
to them. This I did. Then the computer on which I had recorded
everything had been tampered with and half the mixes were lost (we
will eventually retrieve them!) These are the ones that survived"
(Dave Brock - June 6th 2006)
The album is in effect the final collaboration and chapter between
these two artists in a connection that stretches back to the Hawkwind
album 'In Search Of Space' and one that will be highly anticipated by
the large and devoted Hawkwind fan base.
The album features musical contributions from a number of Hawkwind
alumni including Richard Chadwick, Alan Davey, Jason Stuart, Trixie
Smith, Dave Brock and Bob Calvert. All compositions (Except for 'Long
Time Friend' and 'Some Sketches of a Hand' which are
Brock/Stuart/Calvert compositions) are by Brock and Calvert. Bob
Calvert provides spoken word contributions from the original tape source.
Tracks include Centigrade 232, First Landing on Medusa, Locked In, The
Siren and Long Time Friend.
The album will be sold through a dedicated website where you will find
low quality samples of a number of tracks and pictures of Bob Calvert
and Dave Brock.
This album will be limited to just 1,000 copies and demand is expected
to be high.
