a billion thanks to Jill, I have a copy and it's helping the lonely night a
bit
I am a terrible reader, and it's bad on my eyes, so I make a couple comments
before a conclusion, for anyone interested
congradulations on the article Ian, and I couldn't agree more of your
assesment of different people gravitating to different Hawkwind eras....
#1) the "sonic attack" 1-sided promo in the cloth bag ABSOLUTELY DOES exist
in both black vinyl, and the holy "fruit salad" version.....which is in fact
really cool if you're rich enough to buy one.....you have to hold it up to a
light source to get the color.......it's neat, really is....
it is my personal belief that the majority of these colored ones were
brought to the USA.....but I could stand corrected
I will go far out and even say this...._IF_ a bootleg of this item ever were
encountered, such is the insanity of the Hawkwind that it would probably be
worth even more....(this goes for anything, really, unfortunately)
I had the picture disc 45 of SS in both correct and mispressed versions
(although I have this memory of a third, rarer, dif beatles track on one?),
anyway, my copy with the beatles was indentifiable by it's plastic sleeve
having a sticker "manufacturers property, not for sale"
as for the 12' pressing of "25 years", just to show the insane differences
that go on, my black vinyl copy came in the regular sleeve, with a little
sticker covering over the "gray vinyl" statement, rather than coming in a
plain black sleeve as the one pictured
the "Kings Of Speed" 45 mentioned with the "running man" is simply the
German issue, which I personally hated, as that was the last type of speed I
ever had on my mind....indeed, rarer than UK, BUT!!! UK is RARE!!! more
common is a Spanish version, differing only by the word hawkwind written on
all four edges (I hope this memory is right, I'm sure it's close)
the UK version also exists as a demo, and I would say that's a snatch!
the picture interview disc I am seeing is foreign to my eyes, and I haven't
figured it out yet or got to Ian's explanation......but it sure looks
neat......if it is an older item I think I might have tried to buy one and
got ripped off.......
I offer this.....from my own experience, the 2 Hassan 45's are about the
rarest of them all, even competing with the Sonic Attack from my own
experience...the French version taking the prize
and if you get that far, you're own your own, it gets REALLY sick
