If anybody has enough mischief about them then it might be worth enquiring
about the pursuit of a prosecution against Manchester University and their
building managers. The Health & Safety Executive would be very interested in
what happened during the day, especially the fact that there were visitors
in the building but not anybody who could take charge of the fire alarm. The
Local Fire Service would also be very interested in events. They could
actually go as far as revoking the buildings safety certificate and closing
it down completely. It would then remain closed until the Fire Service had
completed a new safety inspection in a timescale defined by themselves. If
there were police officers in attendance at any stage they should have
brought a representative of the local fire service on to site.
Manchester University put lives at risk. Were the bands and their associates
made aware of the fire safety procedures? I say screw Manchester University
and screw them right down to the floor.

I prefer The Ritz in Manchester, but there are many other places HW could  
play that are better than the Academy.
