Assuming it was him on the 1989 Imaginos tour, he sang some lead vocals
on "I am the One You Warned Me of" in the second part of the song.
Really? That's very interesting! He sings lead vocals on the title track
of the actual Imaginos album. Which Imaginos tracks did they play? The
only
ones I know they've done live are "I am the One," "Presence of Another
World," and "Astronomy."
In addition to the leads in Imaginos, John sings the response parts of the
leads in the bridge section of "I am the one". :
Eric: "Eyes like bottles and hands in my hair"
John: "Bottles of blackness the blacker the spare"
Eric: "I’ll sit myself behind that clock"
John: "And play tunes on its belfry"
Eric: "Five fingers have I to play them Iike ten"
John: "Ten fingers have I to play them again"
Both (mostly Eric): "In decimal chains whose mimic cry
Whose notes will never, never fly
Until they quit those timely tunes
And entered that system from outside"
