Greetings friends,
I am happy that the farewell gig is done. It was a good one, and a good crowd of about 75-80 people.
The One Eyed Bishops began as a side project to Sloterdijk, but within a short time, it was the more active of the two bands. Seems blues/boogie/skiffle/roots& r&b have a mich wider audience than spacerock.
We had a good run, but for at least a few months, I have to put it down. I am currently more interested in visual arts ( drawing & painting ), as well a long postponed forrey into the 'great outdoors'.
I am moving off the family farm where I have resided since 1968, and so it is with mixed emotions that this break comes along. Simply put, I need to adjust to my new surroundings, and express myself in a different medium. I love playing live music, but with the exception of this farewell gig, I have sort of been on auto pilotduring the last few shows. I need to recapture the sincerity I put into the music, and though it was there for sure on the 29th, it's been waning, as I yearn to do something else for awhile.
I would like to thank everyone who came out for this show, and would like to offer a 'special above all' thanks to my Dad, Erik Burro, whom upon realizing he had forgotten about doing the sound for the show some 6 hours drive or so away, made the effort to return early from his holiday to help us pull this off properly. Thanks, also to the band; Jeff Berry ( and his wife Loree ) who travelled all the way down from
near Albany New York, to be part of this and to Stewkey lead singer of The Nazz and one of my best friends. We missed Maria Stella, and Jay Adcock, but ' the show must go on', and it did. We played three sets, and and I don't know how many songs, but will post the set lists when they are available. Also thanks to Linda Mac for taking some nice pictures, Seth Kalman, Scott Abbamonte, and to everyone at the corner house. We'll see you whenever we are ready to start up again ..Peace, Mike Burro
