Try as I may, it's been very hard to find many pics from this historic southern Rock concert at Philadelphia's JFK stadium, June 20th, 1981
It was one of my favorite early concert experiences. Southern Rock was big in my area, and the list of bands reads like a 'who's who' of the genre.
The bands were:
38 Special ( who replaced Rossington Collins Band )
The Outlaws
Molly Hatchet
Marshall Tucker
The Allman Brothers
It was an all day show, and you were allowed to bring in coolers. No one searched anything, and everyone had losts of drugs and alcohol.
People were even allowed to leave the stadium to get get more ice, beer etc. How different from today. Although I was at the time most excited about seeing Molly Hatchet, I left that day feeling that the Allman Borthers were by far the best band, and surprisingly Marshall Tucker was a VERY close 2nd..
I guess maybe that's why I found some shots of the show on a Marshall Tucker website..I knew the crowd was big, but I forgotten exactly how big, 90-100,000...Peace, Mike Burro
