It's free, you put together a playlist, I just listen to music on computer while at work, home, I'm not a CD burner (cousin guilt-tripped me about copyrights/royalties). If I can I buy directly from artists.
If you want to download songs it costs money. You can hear new stuff: I've heard "Where the Wild Things Are" soundtrack, new Pearl Jam, Flaming Lips, etc.
I think I saw like one song from "Imaginos," "Club Ninja," mostly first album through "Fire of Unknown Origin." Sometimes artists will just 30 second clips: the Beatles for instance. It's cool to hear some Pretty Things, John's Children, Pink Fairies, etc. stuff you wouldn't hear everyday. If you want to check out my playlist:

That's interesting. A year ago there wasn't any BOC on Imeem. Is it a free service? Not much good for finding new music though IMHO. It seems like there are only the most famous artists on there still.
