To be fair, all the wood panelling in the hall created a great deal of
mush in the sound as the walls acted like soundboards.  Using my hands
to screen my ears from the echo (thanks to whoever gave me that tip)
made for a crisper sound, but it's had to go through a gig with your
hands cupping your ears.
