Lunar eclipse tonight - and Happy Winter Solstice (for tomorrow)

Too low on the horizon and too much early morning mist to see it here so as
an alternative I trudged up Carlton Hill through the snow to watch the
solstice sunset - and missed that too - I was late 8-((. But the
afterglow still glimmered on the edge of the world so I took that photo and
stayed to watch the moonrise instead which was quite impressive as it
emerged above the evening mists and shone across the snowfields so it was
almost worthwhile. But COLD.
