Iain M. Banks diagnosed with gall bladder cancer. :-(

I just read on the Grauniad this morning that author Iain M. Banks has been diagnosed with gall bladder cancer and is not expected to live for more than about a year. :-(

This is terrible news.  I love his Culture novels, and it's a huge shame that such a talent will be lost at such a relatively young age. :-(
