CD player question please

Dear forums wizards

Could somebody suggest the very best thing nowdays for playing CD's on
a home stereo for a person who is poor and wants it to be very cheap
money-wise?

ps- I am not sure I like using DVD players for this purpose and I know
people have said Blue R's play great.

I am VERY fond of "shuffle/random" play and I cannot stand multidisc players.
