OFF: Sci-Fi movies (Nightfall...)

I'd imagine Nightfall would be rather visual as a movie, and there would be
a lot left out or distorted by Holiwood.

Aside from the movie entitled "Nightfall", the basic story was also the 
basis for the movie "Pitch Black" which is such a rip-off that Giger 
could have sued for copyright violation of his "Alien" design and Vin 
Diesel is channeling Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector.  And yet, 
"Pitch Black" works, if you can forgive the rampant ripping off.
