Any of the cozy catastrophe books would probably work fairly well for HW, I think. Although not sure I would want them to do another one this soon against The Machine Stops.

Although Mandrake by Susan Cooper might be very interesting, given modern political climate. Or some of Norman Spinrad’s work.

John Brunner’s Shockwave Rider would make an excellent concept album. …and The Telepathist/Whole Man would work well, too!

For Zelazny, I would still love to see Lord of Light done properly as a concept album. Or if you were looking for something whimsical, but dark, his A Night in the Lonesome October.

There are a few Modesitt books that would work. His Ecolitan books, Forever Hero, Empress of Eternity, or Hammer of Darkness, I think. (Forever Hero might work well….)

I’m sure I can think of more, but need to peruse my shelves.

Thx,

Arin

I still haven’t managed to read the book. I am a bad, bad, bad science fiction fan. Like epic fantasies, sf dystopias haven been my chosen reading material over the last few years.

It'll take you all of an hour to read it. It's quite short.

So, what other SF novels would be good for a Hawkwind concept album?

I'll throw in:

The Chrysalids.
The Chronicles of Amber.

P.S: We have tickets for Magma in September...
