Thinner and cheesier, Yes! Mysterious and disconcerting, positively
spooky chaps! I was, as you so rightly presumed using the generic
term for the type of Organ which over in the UK, at x-mas, the most
talented(!) family member may be seen/heard adulterating great rock classics
on - as opposed to a decent synth. Although..having said that the club
band in Tunisia had a small hammond on which was achieved a very convincing
version of 'Light my Fire'.
You're probably right that neither the Doors nor the Aussie doors use an
actual Hammond Organ it's more likely to be the infamous Stylaphone!
