Y'know - it's a wierd thing - but way back whenever, I remember
watching The Old Grey Whistle Test (very, very quietly 'cos my folks
were asleep immediately above and there was some very strange music
I didn't want them to hear me listening to!) and right at the
beginning of the programme it was announced that they were going to
have Hawkwind on the show.     This was wonderful to me because I
had never had a chance to see the band play and I was fascinated to
see what they were like.   So I watched the entire programme and
there was absolutely no sign nor mention of anything Hawkwind at all
of any kind whatsoever.   So by the end of the show I was utterly
fed up and just anxious to go to bed and had pretty much stopped
paying attention and then I think - just as the final credits rolled
up - they played a video clip.     Sadly my memory is fairly hazy on
this point but I'm fairly sure it was just the Silver Machine clip
because I can remember feeling exceedingly cheated that that's all
it was!      Exactly *why* they were playing Silver Machine I'm not
sure - later rational tells me that it was possibly one of the
re-issues of that single which would make it probably 1978.     But
if anyone can add to this I'd be glad to hear about it.
